FoldMyMac is a one-person product. The short version: the app does its work on your Mac, the website does not watch you, and there is no account to create.
The website
This site runs no analytics, no tracking pixels and no advertising scripts. It sets no cookies of its own. The only thing stored in your browser is your light or dark appearance choice, kept in local storage on your device so the site does not flash on your next visit. Our host records ordinary server logs (IP address, requested page, timestamp) for security and troubleshooting, as any web server does.
The app and your screen
FoldMyMac needs macOS Screen Recording permission to show your live desktop bending with the lid. Frames are captured, transformed and drawn on your Mac. Nothing is written to disk, nothing is recorded, and no screen content, window title or image is ever uploaded. The app does not capture audio. If you revoke the permission, the effect stops and nothing else changes.
Licence checks
When the app activates or revalidates your licence it contacts our licence server. That request contains only:
- your licence key;
- a random device identifier generated on first launch, used to count how many Macs a key is active on;
- a device name, so you can tell your own Macs apart when you manage your key;
- the app version, so we can answer support questions accurately.
That is the whole payload. It contains no screen content, no usage statistics, no crash reports and no hardware serial number. You can remove a device from your key at any time by writing to support.
Payment
Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe and are never seen by, or stored on, our systems. Stripe passes us the information we need to fulfil and account for the order: your email address, the amount, the country used for tax, and the last four digits and brand of the card as they appear on the receipt. Stripe processes that data under its own privacy policy.
We use your email address for exactly two things: sending you the download link, your licence key and your receipt, and answering you if you write to support. You are not added to a mailing list, and we do not sell, rent or share your address.
Keeping and deleting data
We keep order records for as long as tax and accounting law requires, and licence records for as long as your licence is valid, so that your key keeps working. You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for a correction, or ask for deletion of anything not required for accounting, by writing to info@foldmymac.com.
